Rune Hagalaz and The World Tarot Card Partnership

The World & Hagalaz Rune...

Meaning:

Ymir, the first being, an ice giant created from drops of water, formed when the ice of Niflheim mixed with the fire of Muspelheim, in the great void Ginunngagap.

Hi grandsons, Odin and his two brothers, Villi & Ve slew him to create the world.

Here is a bit of his story from the Poetic Edda writings:

"From Ymir’s flesh the earth was created, And from his sweat [or, in some versions, blood] the sea, Mountains from bone, Trees from hair, And from his skull the sky.

And from his eyebrows the blithe gods made Midgard, home of the sons of men and from his brains They sculpted the grim clouds."

In the picture he stands, his heart glowing green with the energy of nature, the moon and sun in the sky above him as the winds blow from the West, transforming is flesh into trees and roots and earth. Small humans stand below him, watching as the world is begun.

The Rune Hagalaz, means transformation by destruction and disruption... changes are needed.... the universe will step in if you fail to heed the signs and messages. It is one of the weather runes, hail... a destructive natural force that we must endure.

My Personal Thoughts! Hagalaz to me, means checkerboard hills on the moors.... two forces, combined together, working together into something majectic. It also connects to the Hag, Cailleach...
